Our Services:Post-Tension Cable Repair

Post-tension slabs are held together by steel cables under high tension. When one breaks or pushes out, it needs a trained crew to repair it safely.

01

Trained crews for tensioned cables.

A cable under tension can release with force. We locate it carefully, repair it safely and re-tension it to spec.

02

Signs of a post-tension cable problem

  • ★A cable end pushing out of the slab edge
  • ★Rust stains at the slab edge
  • ★A bulge or crack in the floor along a line
03

What causes cable failures in Spring, TX

Corrosion

Water reaching the cable through a poorly sealed anchor rusts the steel until it breaks.

Unsealed anchor pockets

Pockets left open or poorly grouted at construction let moisture in.

Drilling into the slab

Drilling or cutting without scanning first can cut a cable.

Slab movement

Clay movement under the slab adds stress to the cables.

Common in Spring

Most subdivisions built in Spring since the 1990s, including Gleannloch Farms, Augusta Pines and Windrose, sit on post-tension slabs.

Original installation

Cables that were under-tensioned or poorly placed can fail early.

FAQs

Is a broken cable dangerous?

A cable under tension can release suddenly, so it should only be handled by a trained crew.

Can I drill into a post-tension slab?

Not without scanning first. Cutting a cable weakens the slab and can be dangerous.

How do I know if I have a post-tension slab?

Look for a stamp or sticker near the garage, or ask the builder. Most Spring homes built since the 1990s have one.

Does one broken cable mean the slab is failing?

Not usually. A single cable can be repaired, and the slab returns to its design strength.
